Introduction of the Information Processing Technology Examination of Japan

The Information Processing Technology Examination of Japan is the national examination designated for evaluating information processing technology according to the related laws and regulations from the forty-four Showa years (1969-the present).The Japanese Information Processing Technology Exams have been held for forty-three years. Compared to the size of the college entrance examinations, it is the second largest examination in Japan.

On January 30, 2002, the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry and the province of the Japanese economic industry signed the IT mutual recognition protocol. According to the protocol, the Chinese system analyst and the Japanese application system development engineer, project manager, and system analyst have similarities on standards, from the perspectives of examination requirements. The Chinese system analyst exam covers the whole content of the Japanese application system development engineer, part of the content of the project manager, and most of the content for the system analyst.


The Open Standards Promotion Center is an organization within the Information Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), Japan. It is one of the Independent Administrative Agencies in Japan, and is operated under the budget of the Japanese government. 


The OSC was established for the strategic coordination and promotion of various undertakings which affected international standards in July, 2011.The OSC also promotes neutral and fair procurements of IT systems of the government, the improvement of the interoperability, and propels the national undertakings to affect an international framework. 


1.Development of strategy for international standards.
2.Promotion of neutral and fair governmental procurement of IT systems.
3.Improvement of the interoperability of IT systems.
4.Establishment of new international framework for the assessment of software.

(The agreement on mutual recognition of programmer, software development engineer and system analyst was signed on January 31,2002. Additional instances of mutual recognition were added on March 3, 2005 and on May 30 , 2011.)
